Director of Remote

The role

We are looking for a solution-oriented innovator and thought leader who helps us further define and build an excellent remote culture for a company scaling at hyperspeed. You will play an integral role in shaping our remote strategy and are a self-starter who has ample ideas and is looking to trailblaze.

You are an inspirational storyteller, an empathetic and effective communicator and operator who is obsessed with optimizing our remote ways of working and culture. You are super organized, able to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment, and enjoy improving the overall effectiveness of our entirely remote first workforce, spread across 45+ countries.

This person will report to our VP of Vibe in our People team and will work closely with our Head of Internal Communications, People Operations and PR & Marketing teams to ensure our teammates around the globe feel like happy, healthy, contributing members of the Hopin team. You will build and lead a team of 5+ consisting of Remote Employee Experience and Internal Events & Culture.


Thought leadership

  • Evangelize our remote way of working, championing our mission to diverse audiences around the globe and be a key spokesperson at industry conferences, podcasts, events
  • Write social content & blog posts to drive market awareness and amplify our mission
  • Stay on top of remote & future of work trends, perform market and competitive analysis, and have a keen eye for new products that optimize remote work

Communication, culture and engagement

  • Develop and drive remote initiatives across the organization, partnering with cross functional leaders to ensure buy-in and successful delivery
  • Inspire, manage and lead a team that produces our innovative internal events (offsites, quarterly business reviews, weekly All Hands, lunch & learns, and more)
  • Serve as an advocate & writer for internal documentation and content; train others in onboarding and throughout the employee lifecycle on documentation best practices
  • Manage change and internal policies to support day to day remote business needs
  • Be the employee experience advocate representing and protecting the viewpoint of our remote workforce through all strategies and decision-making

Tools & Processes

  • Evaluate, propose, implement and drive adoption of tools that enable us to be better connected and work more efficiently as a remote team, and help with asynchronous work.
  • Iterate and continually optimize our remote working best practices

Who you are:

  • Remote work enthusiast who stays on top of latest ‘future of work’ trends
  • Innovative, interested in breaking the mold constantly
  • Excellent strategic thinking and ability to lead through influence, but you also don’t mind digging in and working out details yourself
  • Highly analytical and inquisitive in nature, with an ability to roll up sleeves and find data as needed to support proposals and decisions to improve our remote performance and collaboration
  • Very organized with strong problem solving and project management skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, set and achieve challenging goals; work under the pressure of deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Empathetic, with excellent verbal and written communication skills including a high degree of professionalism


  • 8+ years experience in remote work strategy, internal communications, marketing, product or operations in a fast paced environment
  • Have worked remotely and understand challenges of remote work in a geographically distributed team
  • Experience with content management and documentation strategy  
  • Experience setting up data-driven initiatives to drive decision making
  • Great listening, and strong ability to build trusting working relationships quickly
  • Confident public speaker, with strong presentation skills
  • Skilled written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Startup & entrepreneurial experience is a plus
